The phenomenon of depression can be related to a social theory of learning. I postulate that people learn to become depressive as a result of catastrophic learning. Catastrophic learning is an unintended result of the way in which their human capacity development is related to a social system.I call catastrophic learning the search for solutions for problems within a system of learning that does not contain the steering instructions for finding a solution for the problem at hand. The work of Arnold Cornelis is not translated yet, we may take the initiative to do so. Sergej van Middendorp found this english text of Arnold Cornelis.Download pdf

Albert, this is very interesting and I feel the same. Unfortunately the english text cannot be downloaded. It says it is damaged. Please could you provide me with a new file. I want to make a posting of this.
I am currently working with a perspective that is somewhat similar (experience rationality and pathology) and would also be grateful if the text was published in a working version.
Thanks in advance,

Dear Rasmus, File is working now,. Can you mail us some of the material that you are working on so we start a dialogue about your work?
Dear Albert –
Thank you for your response. I read both your article and Cornelis’ yesterday, and I am excited to see that there is someone working in similar directions as I am. I would very much like to come and meet you on the 30th of May. Let us speak more of that later. Unfortunately I have nothing in print in English to send you as I have just started on my project in February, but in the following I will try to explain my projects angle on the experience economy. My first article will probably come out at the end of this term. I will promise to send it to you by then.
