Mijke has joined recently the team of the European Centre for the Experience Economy. Mijke is a young Dutch lady, who graduated in “Politics, Communication and Organization” (Social and Cultural Sciences) at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. Before obtaining this degree, Bos studied Tourism and Culture for three years in the Netherlands and eight months in Kenya. She lived in Kenya to do a traineeship studying eco-tourism. Through her experience in Kenya, Bos got more interested in communication, and political and social relations. She graduated in 2001 and traveled for seven months through Asia and New Zealand to get to know different cultures, learn more about her own culture and support developing projects in Indonesia. Mijke initiated the project Libre Expresión in Honduras.Within the European Centre she is responsible for developing the relationship between social entrepreneurship and the process of creating meaning(experiences). She is also responsible for intensifying the relationship between Members & Friends of the European Centre.
Overwhelmed by the stress of Amsterdam and her work as a marketing and communication consultant, Mijke decided to invest her energy and share her hobby, photography, with children in developing countries. She made the right moves with Kodak Benelux and started working. In October 2003 Mijke arrived in Honduras with more disposable cameras in her backpack than personal belongings and a wish; to learn Spanish and to work with children, offering them distraction and creative education and learning from them through a photography project. A project, which was planned for 4 months, turned out in something more long term.Read more about Libre Expresión see posting and in our book A New Perspective on the Experience Economy to be published beginning of May in English.
