The fastest growing product in our economy is emotion. Those who cannot compete with the big chains have to offer experiences. Prof.Willem de Ridder (Institute SMO, partner of EE) describes in an article in FD that key markets will change drastically.Lots of products and services will become cheaper. Who wants to survive in those markets must be able to stay profitable with very low margins. This part of the market will be the battlefield of big chains and pricebreakers. But there is an attractive alternative for those who cannot do this or do not want this.Byers are more and more prepared to pay for products and services with an emotional value. In this chapter we propose that art is ubiquities and is part of every day human experience. The notion of ‘ubiquitous’ is defined according to the Oxford Dictionary as present, appearing, or found everywhere. Human experiences are defined in both physical and virtual spaces and in various contexts: personal, social, cultural, economic and ecological. Humans give meaning to their life through a process of seeking, sensing, sharing, shaping and sustaining meaning in interaction with subjects and objects. Many of the meaningful encounters include objects of art.For the complete article http://downloads.experience-economy.com/

This year’s European Culture House conference focuses on the economic theories of Experience Economy, but the conference will also endeavour to give all the participants the possibility to obtain and create experiences in a variety of ways and venues. Participants are therefore invited to express themselves artistically during the conference with the help of visual and musical forms of expression. The theoretical presentations will be continually supplemented by an art installation, the basic form and expression of which has been developed by the Danish installation and performance artist Peter Holmgaard. Lux a very interesting social cultural platform in Nijmegen organised a debate around the Experience Economy in Nijmegen. After a short introduction on Experience Economy by Albert Boswijk local entrepreneurs discussed applications and opportunities for the City of Nymegen. The local Entrepreneurs were projectdevelopers, local artists (the platform Smeerolie), shop owners, club directors(Doornroosje) and brasserie owners. Our advice to the councilwoman of economics and culture was to install innovation and brainstorm sessions at least twice a year and make a report on all creative ideas for the town and teach the workers of the city to learn to listen to these ideas and not to say NO on first hand. For introduction see downloads and report on LUX www.ruimteinlux.nl

How to delight 8.500 visitors a day,7 days long at Tefaf? Noud van den Boer chairman of Koninklijke van den Boer group shared with our professional members a view behind the scenes. We discovered an outstanding operation in logistics but last and not least 4 fascinating experience concepts. Compliments to Noud van den Boer and his team. Always keen on new concepts the MvdB team spotted new products in Paris. Examined ingredients and theu discovered, good idea but we can do it better. And so they did.And their new experience product sold 2500 on the first day of Tefaf. It is their alert way of percieving innovations and even making them better.

In his latest book “Zorn und Zeit” Sloterdijk argues that we as human beings are out of balance. We are constantly approached and evoked in our ‘eros’. The human being is seen as an constantly unsatisfied animal. ‘Eros’ means being dependent on others, in need of relationships, driven by our needs. For the Greek the concept of ‘Thymos’ was much more important. ‘Thymos’(Zorn) is our independent source of energy which is linked to our feeling of truth(’wahrheitverwant fühlen) and to our feeling of justice. According to Sloterdijk we denied that feeling since the Greek. The book will be published in English and Dutch in the spring.
