The lecture that stood out for me most(although this is very difficult to say with so many inspiring lecturers) was the introduction by Stefan Sagmeister.He started his lecture by saying that he wanted a year off to get away from the usual assignments and to dive into his real creativity.So they closed their office for a year. The first thing that happened to him is that he received an open assignment of a magazine to design 12 blank pages. His presentation was structured around their new work and “Things I have learned in my life so far.” Stefan showed recent work which you can watch on http://www.sagmeister.com/worknew12.html. Why this work had such an impact on me? First of all Stefan had the mental courage to change his daily work and created a complete new context where new things could happen to him. He has a competence to change contexts where the message comes very well across in an unusual way.Next Pinc Conference 20th of May 2008, make sure you will not miss it.www.pinc.nl Read more about lessons learned.
Stafans lessons learned were 21 personal sentiments and principles that he uses in his work and I guess in his life.Here are some of the lessons;
- “Everything I do always comes back to me “
- “Trying to look good, limits my life.”
- “Keeping a dairy supports personal development.”
- “Complaning is silly, either act or forget.”
- “Worrying solves nothing.”
- ” Over time i get used to everything and will take things for granted, take material luxury in small doses”
- ” Money does not make happy”
- “Having guts works for me”
