The 2nd and 3th of September 2007, Bournemouth University hosted the Extraordinary Experiences Conference. About 90 academics and practioners participated and discussed topics regarding hospitality and tourism experiences.
Keynote speakers showed the importance of good business models when applying the concept of experience into business. In the parallel sessions a wide range of papers where presented. Main line in most of the discussions was the search for good methods to really be able to investigate a persons individual experience.
Another important issue mentioned was the change in the approach of hospitality. Hospitability and looking at guests’ values is becoming more and more evident in creating memorabe experiences for the hospitality guest.
Finally the academic input from Conrad Lashley, Brent Ritchie and Brian Wheeller gave all participants real ‘food for thought’ in maintaining their research on the concept of experience.
