Businesses in hospitality, retail and even the manufacturing industries are quite aware they need to develop and facilitate so called ‘experiences’. Still there are a lot of questions about those experiences and specially about digital experiences.

More functionality on line is not sufficient to create meaningful experiences. What is important that one tunes in to the social and cultural needs of human beings. The important shift from being controlled by suppliers to communicative self determination becomes quite clear.(Arnold Cornelis The Logic of Feeling). A lot of initiatives that leave and facilitate action and self expression are very succesfull. (Flickr,You Tube, Hyves, Legofactory). The question here is who is creating the value here and who owns the IP?. The second life hype looks to have cooled down. But there is a lot to learn from this virtual platforms. How can we use these platforms to learn and share our knowledge. Do these opportunities get stuck at imitating fysical environments or do they offer opportunities that are not possible in the fysical world? And do they offer learning that enables us to do thigs differnet in the fysical world? Also questions about sensory perception are important. How much can somebody experience behind a screen?. And what you experience behind you screen how much influence do these experiences have on other parts of your life. Does fast service on line create expectations on fysical services? These are the issues we will speak about on Pic Nic the 28th of September.
