Chris Anderson’s book offers a triarchy of three kinds of free:
The cross-subsidy model: the razors-and-blades model, as well as loss leaders of all sorts, from “free gift inside” to “free toaster for opening an account. The media business model ranging from free-to-air broadcast radio and television to all ad-supported content online today
The Freemium model:  “The third is the new one, enabled by digital markets where the marginal cost of production and distribution is close to zero. This is the one that allows the “freemium” business model, where 90% of the users get the basic product for free and 10% chose to pay for a premium version
.”

Listening to communities, social strategy talk (Vint)

2838759403_9fa7fd24cb.jpgThe 4th of september Vint(Innovation Institute of Sogeti) organised a social strategy talk on listening to communities. Apart from the very interesting approach from Nokia;s cultural antropologist Younghee Jung as key note speaker, three companies (Arie de Zeeuw, Head Corporate Affairs Vodaphone,  Dirk Kronemeyer, VP Business Innovation of KLM over community led innovation and Pim Betist, founder of Sellaband) explained in an elevator speech there approach to communities. I was impressed by the amount of people that turned up(around 400) and also impressed by the willingness of participants to contribute to the dilemma’s of these companies. Vodaphone merely listens to panels, and learns from what their customers say. KLM China club, invites their customers to relate to each other so they can find each other in doing business in China and Sellaband really engages fans of a particular band to help to promote their favourite musicgroup to make their first album. The motives of these companies to facilitate community platforms differ. Vodaphone and KLM want to learn and make money out of it and Sellaband is more born out of the idea , the passion behind the concept became very clear. The ability to listen to the fresh idea’s of the participants was striking. KLM and Vodaphone did not hear anything new, Pim Betist went home with some inspiring ideas.

2. What do you personally understand to be the concept of co-creation?
3. What do you consider to be the best practices in this field ?

5. Where is the value created for the individual, for the supplier, for the community.
6. How is this value created?
And what do we think that co-creation is? What is co-creation and what is not. After we have discussed your answers, we will give a short introduction to what we understand in our view as experience co-creation opposite to all sorts of marketing gimmicks and describe several proven businesscases like LEGO factory, KLM bluelab and some other inspirational examples.
The workshop will be introduced and facilitated by Albert Boswijk CEO of the European Centre for the Experience Economy and Raul Lansink managing partner of Favela Fabric. In detail will be discussed how to introduce and increase the lifecycle of a co-creation lab application. After a short break we will work with you on ways how you can actually introduce co -creative forms in your organisational practice. There will ample space for discussion The Power of Co-Creation, special lab by The European Centre for the Experience Economy and Favela Fabric.
