My background is philosophical, from Roskilde University Center outside of Copenhagen and from Eberhard-Karls Universität in Tübingen, Germany. I finished my MA last year and my phd-project, that bears the working title “The Role of Experience in the Age of Self-Realization”, was accepted at Copenhagen Business School on the Institute for Management, Politics and Philosophy (see more at: http://uk.cbs.dk/content/view/full/6784) in the beginning of 2006. Depression as Cultural Illness A social epistemology Model of Catastrophic learning

The phenomenon of depression can be related to a social theory of learning. I postulate that people learn to become depressive as a result of catastrophic learning. Catastrophic learning is an unintended result of the way in  which their human capacity development is related to a social system.I call catastrophic learning the search for solutions for problems within a system of learning that does not contain the steering instructions for finding a solution for the problem at hand. Last month we visited the research facilties of Philips HomeLab to discuss Ambient Experiences. A report of this visit: In the near future our homes will have a distributed network of intelligent devices that provides us with information, communication, and entertainment. Furthermore, these systems will adapt themselves to the user and even anticipate on user needs. These consumer systems will differ substantially from contemporary equipment through their appearance in peoples environments, and through the way users interact with them. Ambient Intelligence is the term that Philips uses to denote this new paradigm for in-home computing and entertainment. Salient features of these new experiences are ubiquitous computing, natural interaction, and intelligence.

A brief introduction to Rolf Jensens new book. Just published in Danish.
Jensen has time travelled to 2030 in order to bring inspiration to the present. It is a business book. Although the usual 3-5 years for business strategy is a good one, we do need a broader perspective, too. The long horizon is needed as a supplement for a market place with changes happening with the speed of sound.  The time travel concept permits thinking outside the box.

"The value driven organisation, the gradual transformation from rules and orders to value based management. It is a slow process but it has begun with core values, visions and mission statements.  Be aware, the “amaproffs” are coming. The C2C market – consumer to consumer. Some times it is not a real market, people do it because it is worth doing, not for profit. The bloggers, wikipedia, the on-line books and music. www.shopping.com versus the official advice form governmental institutions. Hierarchy versus the flat society." [source]

Rolf Jensen has been lecturing the 18th November in Amsterdam. Questions & Answers will be possible via the comments.
